Frequently Asked Questions About Boudoir

If you have any questions regarding your photo session, please check here for frequently asked questions and then contact us.

What’s the difference between the shoots?

Our most popular and the most flexible is the Boudoir shoot – choose this one if you’d like to use our purpose-designed bedroom style boudoir set, and we’ll shoot a set with a studio background as well. You have the option to do a “how to look good naked” artistic nude photo too.

An Artistic Nude shoot uses the studio backgrounds and props but not the bedroom-style set. We’ll normally do two sets with different backgrounds, and as the name implies, these are tastefully posed and lit artistic nude images.

Studio Portfolio shoot is similar to the Artistic Nude shoot in that you’ll be photographed on the studio backgrounds. However, you’ll wear lingerie for one or both sets of photos.

For all the shoots we’ll chat before and during about the style of photos, so you’ll never have to show more than you’re comfortable with – or alternatively, you won’t miss out on doing the nude shot you’ve psyched yourself up for!

How do I book?

To book your session, please email us at or complete the contact form.

How do I pay?

A deposit is required at the time of booking and the remainder of your package is due on the day of the shoot. The deposit can be paid through the website via paypal or over the phone on a card. We accept all major credit and debit cards.

How long does the session last?

Typically a boudoir photo session will take about 2 hours – you’ll have plenty of time spent to relax and get the best from the experience.

Do you offer wedding photography at all?

No, unfortunately, we don’t offer wedding photography at the moment. If you are in the North West of England we can recommend this Cheshire based wedding photographer.

Can I change my outfit / hair / makeup during the session?

Yes. You can bring a selection of outfits – typically 2 different sets are shot. Clare will be on hand to restyle your hair and make up to suit the photographs, unless you’re doing your own hair and makeup.

What should I bring?

Please take a look at our What to Wear’ page for advice on what to bring to your shoot. Most of all make sure you are comfortable in what you are wearing and try it on before prior to your session.

Do I need to do anything before the session?

Not much to worry about – a few thoughts: avoid wearing make-up unless having a non make-up session, and wear loose-fitting underwear to avoid any ‘strap marks’. Avoid self-tanning products the same week as your session, as the camera is very sensitive to tan lines, and you might like to shave or wax before your session.

Is a makeover included in the session?

It’s up to you. Clare is a professional hair and makeup artist and will make you look amazing. If you prefer to do it yourself or bring a friend to help that’s fine too, just mention this when booking. Please make sure your hair is washed at least a couple of days before the session and no products are used so Clare can style more effectively.

Do you airbrush photographs?

All images are retouched. We can smooth skin, remove blemishes, scars, and tattoos. Talk to Tim about any specifics on the day of your photo session.

How do I choose my photos?

You are invited back to the studio to view your images and make your choices for your products, or if you’ve travelled a long way we can provide online viewing.

How long does it take to prepare the images after my session?

Your viewing is booked 1-2 weeks after your photo shoot. Prints, canvasses, frames and albums can take 2 weeks plus depending on the type.

I have a deadline for the images how much time should I give between the session and my required date?

Ideally, you should make sure you have at least 6 weeks in between your session and your deadline, however please ask if you need something in a hurry – we can probably help!

Can I buy extra products after my shoot?

You add prints, an album or other products as you like to your shoot, to create a custom package. This is normally done at your viewing appointment, after your shoot, but if you want to have a chat in advance about what you’d like please do! We’ve got samples of everything to show you. Note that there’s never a hard sell to buy more than you want.

I’m not a 20-year-old size double zero, can I book a shoot?

Boudoir is for every woman. Your photographer is experienced in lighting and posing so will be able to make you look your best no matter what your age or size.

What can I expect on the day?

On your arrival you will be greeted by the photographer Tim, and your personal make-up artist Clare. You can have a glass of bubbly when you arrive (or something non alcoholic if you prefer!), then there will be a talk about your session, makeup and hair. Your make over is also a good time to chat and ask any questions about the shoot but also to make you feel relaxed and at ease. Clare will be available throughout your photo session to touch up your make and help with posing. If you’ve chosen to do your own hair and make up, Clare will not be present.

Who sees my photos?

The only person who will see your photographs will be you, your photographer, and the makeup artist. However, if you’d be happy for us to use your images on the website or in out advertising, please tell us!

I want to do my own hair and make up, or bring someone to do it for me. Is that OK?

That’s fine, many people prefer to take this option as they prefer a natural look, or want to keep within budget. It works very well for an Artistic Nude shoot, too. You can choose when booking whether to include Clare’s work or not. If you’re doing your own, Clare will not be present on the day of the shoot.

Where does the session take place?

Most sessions are at the photography studio. However if you would like to use a hotel, or if your home is suitable (or garden very private!) or another location this can be arranged. Just ask about this option when you contact us, there’s usally an extra charge involved.

Can you supply flowers and petals?

Yes, definitely. We use Fishlocks Flowers as our primary city florist since they offer excellent delivery times, prices and the highest quality flowers you can find. You can visit their floral selections here.

Where is the studio?

The studio is based in New Mills, High Peak, in Derbyshire. That ’s on the borders of Cheshire and just outside Manchester, so it’s easy to access from the whole region. Please ask for directions.

Can we shoot outside?

If you have a suitable location for us to shoot in, then yes by all means! This can look great, particularly for an Artistic Nude shoot.

I am nervous about using a male photographer!

It’s quite normal to be nervous when booking a boudoir session, but Tim and Clare will put you at ease and the session will be at your own pace. Tim is a consummate professional, with a very realxed attitude and easygoing manner.

Can I bring someone with me?

You are welcome to bring someone with you to your session. We tend to find a friend is better to help you relax (rather than a family member or partner) but this is entirely your choice.

What happens if I cancel my session?

If you cancel your session and do not wish to rebook another date your deposit will be retained by Twin Peaks Boudoir. If in the unlikely event the photographer needs to rearrange the date of yoursession, your deposit will still stand and you will just be asked to choose an alternate date. If a suitable date cannot be rebooked your deposit will be refunded.

Do many people read this far down the FAQ?

We don’t expect so, no.
